If there was one thing all my travels had thought me, it’s to spend as little on pre-trip expenses so that I can spend more when I’m in the country.

Pre Trip

🛫 Flights & Hotels

Google Flights and Hotels is amazing in consolidating all the prices available on different sites. This makes finding the CHEAPEST dates easy. I usually play around with the dates and find the cheapest airlines I can fly with (I tend to avoid layovers) and accommodations to stay at.

🚨 Insurance

Please don’t save on this expense. You really never know what might happen. I wouldn’t rely on an insurance that usually comes with a credit card because of the low coverage and extensive terms and conditions that comes along with it.

I now default to FWD Travel Insurance

✅ Claim experience was easy and fuss free

✅ Transparent terms and conditions

✅ Affordable

🏡 Long Term Accommodations

Airbnb , slightly more expensive than looking at Facebook Groups but there is 99.99% the lodging will be fine. A premium I’m willing to pay for.

💵 Change Cash?

Traditionally this is what most people do but with more and more multi currency card companies like YouTrip, Revolut, Trust Bank and more, it sort of elimiates the need to change any cash in advance unless the country you’re going to is cash reliant like Taiwan or Bangkok.
